Re: Friday Facts #409 - Diminishing beacons

Yeah, I've read all the FFFs since version two point zero of the game was announced, and the crafting tree isn't upside down on any planet. It's identical on them all. Sure there are a few new ways to obtain the resources you want, whether that's through recycling scrap or through but harvesting mo...

Re: Friday Facts #409 - Diminishing beacons

The logistical separation would be there for railways, just make every map giant-sized. As in actual planetary scale, as opposed to the relatively narrow ribbons we currently get for things like Rail world maps. Good luck running power poles OR rails across an entire ocean! Just make sure you code ...

Re: Friday Facts #409 - Diminishing beacons

The problem is that, as I understand it, the solution to all quality production is to just do the exact same recycle loop over and over, for every item in the mall. What makes you think this is how it will work? You think a recycling loop for a beacon, and a recycling loop for an assembly machine 3...

Re: Friday Facts #409 - Diminishing beacons

Everything I see is great and all but I still don't see the reason they could have just kept everything on Nauvis and in Nauvis orbit instead of building whole new planets. That way, just like launching a rocket ends the vanilla game in 1.1, once you press the "warp drive" button you win....

Re: Friday Facts #401 - New terrain, new planet

I still think that all of the stuff said in these FFFs could have been done in such a way that we didn't need five new planets, rather than just revamped Nauvis. (For example, have a random number of lakes actually be volcanoes, have randomly occurring thunderstorms, randomly placed pre-destroyed fa...

Re: Friday Facts #399 - Trash to Treasure

Ah there goes the moderator intervention as I predicted would eventually happen. XD I was just curious how exactly the argument even came to be and what playstyle one would have to have to argue using those specific points. ^^ Well, now you know! Thank you for helping me change! I would absolutely ...

Re: Friday Facts #399 - Trash to Treasure

"Super-fast" at one or two science packs per thirty minutes. Man you had this conversation in a trillion threads already, does it need to be here as well? [Koub] Pretty much this. I had the awkward sensation of dejร -vu, I'm pretty sure I've read this exact same argument a couple months ag...

Re: Friday Facts #399 - Trash to Treasure

Second, you're asking me to replace boredom (waiting) with annoyance (repetitive and unnecessary reconstruction.) No thanks! Third, I am most definitely not using minimum ore settings, or even the default, as I find myself having to increase the ore patch numbers, size and richness to their absolut...

Re: Friday Facts #399 - Trash to Treasure

It's mostly space-saving and resource-saving actually. Due to the tiny, depleting nature of ore patches, you don't get all that much from one patch so you have to maximize the materials you get by placing as few miners and assemblers as possible. Plus, you drastically cut down on the amount of spac...

Re: Friday Facts #399 - Trash to Treasure

If I didn't use the mods then it would only be replacing the existing boredom with a new boredom. The inability to void items and instead having to keep crafting storage tanks indefinitely for items like liquids, which rapidly fill up my storage tanks and jam things up. That's why the new lava biom...

Re: Friday Facts #399 - Trash to Treasure

No, I'm talking about science packs in general. I only tend to use enough to build one of EVERYTHING, per science pack. (Because it's simply a hassle to build more, due to my methods of construction not exactly being neat and clean. They are VERY spaghetti.) Here's my current setup: For my Red scie...

Re: Friday Facts #399 - Trash to Treasure

I currently use the Flare Stack mod and the Recycling Factory mod to deal with this , recycling and/or voiding any items whenever and wherever I so choose. So why in the universe do I desire to go to another planet to void my items when I can just plop down a flare? The game as it is, makes it triv...

Re: Friday Facts #399 - Trash to Treasure

Currently, it's not only too easy, it's too boring. Like I said, once you have up to green science set up, it becomes an idle game. Short bursts of activity, then massive lengths time waiting for things to be built. Real-time watching-paint-dry simulator 2024. Are you talking about the phase where ...

Re: Friday Facts #399 - Trash to Treasure

If it were all new biomes but a bigger, more expansive Nauvis, I know I would play the exact same way I do right now. It seem the only things on which we agree are that since it's whole new planets that are added and not just new biomes, it means the expansion will bring new gameplay. Since the exp...

Re: Friday Facts #399 - Trash to Treasure

Yeah, full agreement (with the exception of "Devoid of risk". That lightning seems like a big one.) Other planets are great and all, but honestly? From my perspective - I'm not a programmer or game designer, so outside looking in - it seems like they could totally stick ALLLL this stuff o...

Re: Friday Facts #399 - Trash to Treasure

So Vulcanus is "craft everything from lava" and Fulgora is "craft everything from scrap". Instead of creating new planets why not just add more stuff to Nauvis like caverns/mountains/islands/deep ocean or other biomes, each with unique resources? It also doesn't help that both o...

Re: Friday Facts #396 - Sound improvements in 2.0

I'd also like to see an "alert mode" added whenever the Radar sees an incoming attack, whether by Biters, players, or other things like asteroids. Something that will sound an audible alarm, switch on red lighting, and automatically power up defenses when an attack starts, and shut the de...

Re: Friday Facts #396 - Sound improvements in 2.0

By the way, as someone who enjoys trains quite a lot and spends a lot of time around them I suggest adding a faint 'metal screeching' noise as they go around corners. Because the wheels will be grinding up against the rails themselves. Oh and lastly (and certainly most importantly), can we get horn...
