Re: Versions and Builds
2.0 is in development and will be released next year. As far as I know, Steam updates automatically to the version which is listed as stable on https://factorio.com and was bumped to 1.1.100 this week (mine installation has already updated). Previous one was 1.1.94.

Re: ARM Build
It has 2x Xeon E5-2667 V2s (16-cores/32-threads @ 3.60Ghz, 128GB ECC RAM, 12 SAS harddrives (it is also my backup centre) As well as many game servers. Well.. that's 10 years old hardware with DDR3 from the era when 8 cores was a lot. You will probably get >2x the Factorio performance on mid-range ...

Out of curiosity: what's the spec of the server and on what scale do you serve?TheKillerChicken wrote: βSat Oct 07, 2023 10:51 amI would love to see an ARM server support as my current game server is 700-watt power-hungry server and would like an alternative to a mainframe server.

Re: Crashes on Ryzen 5 3600x
This is a pretty early Ryzen. Whenever I do upgrades I usually spend quite a bit of time deciding what to get. It was still near the top at the time and it would last me for a good while. I'll dig into AMD's current gens and look at their AM4 offerings. Next major upgrade will be going back to Inte...

Re: ARM Build
Increasingly, cloud/infrastructure providers are offering Arm server types (Graviton, Ampere). I think the demand for Arm builds of Factorio is only going to continue to increase. My hope is that the next iteration of Steam Deck is some kind of AArch64-based monster, thus forcing the game industry ...

Re: Underground belts and pipes should be placed tile by tile instead of being one max length
Without a max underground length you can design an end game factory from the beginning instead of waiting to unlock blue belts to design your end game factory. I mean... that's the whole point of different max-lengths. You unlock new things, redesign, adapt, discover. That's the thing not only with...

Re: Pre Space DLC saves
(it's additional work to ensure such compatibility, so I suspect they wouldn't do that here if they don't plan to do this in other places) Is it? Or is it simply a matter of not deleting the original entities (and only updating the rail planner)? We don't know how deep the engine changes had to be ...

Re: Pre Space DLC saves
Today's FFF says that loading old saves with an old-style rail system will be allowed, you just won't be able to build old-style rails. If they made rail systems compatible, they will probably do the same with other things (it's additional work to ensure such compatibility, so I suspect they wouldn'...

FFF-315 follow-up?
Waiting for new episodes of the new season of the FFF, I started to read some older ones and stumbled upon #315 https://www.factorio.com/blog/post/fff-315 I wonder what the infrastructure side of Wube looks like nowadays. How many and what kind of servers do you run, how long does it take to build F...
