The demo has less entities, thus less graphics to load into memory. I have 1024M of VRAM on my Mac and I have to use low graphics mode. Since low graphics mode is just 50% scaled down images (on both axis, so 25% memory usage), I'm pretty confident 256M is not going to be enough for low graphics if ...

In two months from now 256M might be enough, maybe, but I'm not the developer so I can't know for sure what their planned schedule is.

The VRAM requirements are rather high at the moment, so you'd probably get garbled graphics. The devs are working on it, but reducing the video memory requirements will take a while. Unfortunately, I believe you won't be able to run the game now. 256M might be enough in the future, but not currently...

Player position/movement seems to play a huge role in determining when the biters unfreeze. Often the biters are only frozen if you stand where you are, sometimes if you stay on the left side of biter it'll remain frozen and the moment your X position goes to right side of the biter it wakes up again.

i just build really really long belts from nearby resource fields to go into my old iron/copper processing lines and when all nearby fields go out, i make trains to remote mining sites and unload their stuff into chests which unload into belts going to the old processing lines... the infinite oil is...

The game uses a lot of sprite animations so it needs a lot of VRAM, and this is what happens when the graphics card can't handle what the game needs. The developers are working to reduce the graphics memory requirements, but unfortunately there are currently no workarounds other than the low graphic...

Biters are not currently a threat because they're too simple and predictable. It's way too easy to deal with them once you know how they behave.

Usability suffers quite a lot with the new skin. Contrasts are too low in a lot of places, hover effects are too strong (i.e. distracting) and so on. It feels unpleasant to use.

And the red "unread posts" icon in the board index page is painful to watch, it feels out of place.

Oh, the circle of stones isn't a feature? I've had it lots of times with low water settings, a perfect circle made of a dense bunch of stone doodads surrounding the starting area
