Re: Compact tileable 1-belt unload station

I see 2 problems with unbalanced chests. 1) only a few inserters are unloading the train slowing that down. 2) full belts at the start but then some chests run dry and the rest aren't enough to fill the belt 1) that's only when the belt is backed up and slow, and chests are almost full. So, I don't...

Re: Simple Questions and Short Answers

I don't believe there are any errors but feel free to provide some input =) Well, I can't, so I'm probably wrong. :) Surprisingly, seems like a 3-way crossing really can't be permanently gridlocked, even if it's made of totally regular signals, without a chain signal. If there is no gridlock on exi...

Re: Simple Questions and Short Answers

20170112224330_1.jpg As far as I can see both your designs have some errors. A simple rule of thumb is: you use regular signals when on straight rails, regular again when on an exit from an intersection, and a chain signal on the entrance from an intersection and inside it. So, the train will not e...

Re: Compact tileable 1-belt unload station

If you generally have the ore belt backed up all the way to the station, and use the station as a buffer so it is often over 1/3 full, then keeping the chest content balanced helps unloading speed. I suspect that is not the case either. If I have ore belts backed up for some time (which is often th...

Re: Compact tileable 1-belt unload station

...What you want instead is 3 inserters filling the belt nearly full Well, *I* prefer the belt full. Not "nearly". And I don't really care about balancing unload just for the sake of balancing. Full belt will unload trains faster than "nearly full belt" anyway. And I like to hav...

Re: Compact tileable 1-belt unload station

more than that - circuit unload is slower too. It doesn't fill even one red belt from 6 fast inserters.

Re: Compact tileable 1-belt unload station

one suggestion. wire all the unloading from chest to belt inserters together (for each car). set them to read hand contents (hold), enable when * (everything) = 0 that way they will not favor one chest over anotther. chests will be unloaded evenly and make unloading from trains quicker. Not tried i...

Re: Make underground pipes only 1 tile longer, please :)

Don't understand your problem. It's not a problem, it's idea and suggestion. Why the length of 11 has been chosen? Why not 10 or 12? Will some balance be broken if it will be one tile longer? Or maybe underground pipe should have the length od the underground belt? I'd like to have it 12 tile-long....

Make underground pipes only 1 tile longer, please :)

Please, make underground pipe 1 tile longer. It breaks my factory every so often. :) Like I use 2-4-2-4-2-... bus design (like this: ..vvvv..vvvv..vvvv.. ), as many of us do. Because it's so convenient to use underground belts under 4-belt-bus. And then I have to use underground pipe only 6-tile lon...

Just put them into the wooden chest and blow it up with your red ammo. Or drive a tank over it.
All with wooden posts, burner miners, old armor, etc.

In fact in this case we can do it even simpler:

And it will work just perfect and will need much less belts.

Oh, and more than that: let the inserter drop the item IF there is another inserter taking out of that tile.

Re: Don't let inserters drop item onto the earth

But there are legitimate designs that deposit stuff on the ground, so that another inserter can pick it up. I suppose that's what circuits are for. Put a chest, make inserter sure that chest is empty before inserting, and that's it. With a chest you can even have stack bonus. Does it happen so ofte...

Don't let inserters drop item onto the earth

Is it really necessary to let inserters drop items on the earth? Wouldn't it be better if the inserter will hold the item until something appears at the destination? Like a chest, assembler or a belt. It's kind of annoying when I disassemble some spaghetti-project, take out an assembler or belt and ...

Compact tileable 1-belt unload station

I don't need more than 1 belt to unload my trains -- they are 1-1 (1-loco, 1-car). If I need more ore delivered, I just use more trains (and more stations sometimes). :) With only 1 belt the station can be very compact. This time it's only 4-tiles between rails, with chest-buffer and balanced lane o...

Re: Lights on electric poles

It means in the end that you have one item more in the inventory while the only added game-value is, that you don't need to place a lamp every three or four poles. Do you want to say that "it means the game will be somewhat easier"? It won't be simpler, it will just be less irritating. I ...

Lights on electric poles

Please, either add lights on electric poles by default (or after lights are researched), or add an item "medium/big electric pole with lights". It would be really more convenient and easier. Left it "only white light" without circuits. That complexification shouldn't be in the ga...
