Re: The Hydra Dilemma - A Coop Factorio Playthrough!

it is really some shame that even after over 40 episodes there are still... Given that there are 5 people splitting the 40+ something episodes that's around 8 or so per person, everyone is going in blind not knowing what anyone else has done until after they have played, and everyone feels compelle...

Re: Tips & Tricks

I don't even understand how anyone could need that many batteries. Never once has my battery chemical plant been a bottleneck for my production of other things. That's not even all of my Battery production. I have four more Battery producing Chemical Plants to the left of that  Batteries a...

Re: Tips & Tricks

Because I've more than once seen a badly planned setup for Batteries, here's a compact production setup that's effective and expandable for both Batteries (and also Plastics). If you want to control production, smart inserters can be used for input. Replace output belt with Provider chests if Logist...

Re: [MOD 0.10.x] Resource-Monitor-Mod v0.4.2

This is a useful mod, though I had to turn off the alert when a deposit is at 10% or lower. The alert was constantly popping up every time the mod updated. The alert might be more useful if a message box (just like the one that shows up at the start of freeplay) pops up once so you don't miss or ski...

Re: Minimal Steam Power

At night, energy is drawn from all of the accumulators equally. The steam gens only charge the accumulators on their power grid. Ok, try this - a new party trick. Using multiple straws, you are drinking equally from 12 cans of beer at the same time. However, you know your Aussie appetite won't go d...

Re: Factory 2 (featuring Roadworks mod)

Nice job and nice post. Ive got more power than you on my 30 hour playthrough, but its not enough due to a constant 100 plus big biters attacking me. (I mean... I get no pause in between attacks. My accums drain fast from lasers) Think I got.like 2.2k solar and 1.6k accum. With the constant attacks...

Re: Tips & Tricks

Updated: Added a list at the bottom of the contributing users who helped fill out the tips for this thread I was just about to ask about Contributor Credits ;) Here's a few more early game items that came up in a new factory. Early Game Smelting Prior to getting up a proper belt line running that f...

Re: My First Research Facility

One suggestion is to press the "Alt" key to display detailed information so that it is easy for us to understand what is producing what. It took some time for me to trace where everything goes. With that said, I've probably never seen Iron Smelting feeding directly into what I presume is a...

I propose the Hydra Dilemma factory as the next Factorio Fixit

So, how many episodes do you think it'd take you to fix it?

However: Please don't be proud about stealing a copy, just be ashamed for being a scrooge. Unless, of course, you don't have the money to buy the game. I'm fine with pirating in that case. :D So, if you have the money to buy it but don't, it's bad, but if you don't have the money to buy it, it's ok...

Re: Tips & Tricks

Here's a safety suggestion when it comes to trains:

In all places where you plan to cross train tracks, even if you do not have multiple trains running on a rail line, place a few rail signals nearby. Before crossing, look at the color of the signal. If it's Yellow, WATCH OUT!

Factory 2 (featuring Roadworks mod)

I decided to check out some mods and decided to start a new factory. I wasn't interested in anything that changed or overhauled the game dramatically (such as Dytech). I've put about 53 hours into this one so far. Of the mods listed below, I've used Roadworks, Time Display, Resource-Monitor and The ...

Re: The Hydra Dilemma - A Coop Factorio Playthrough!

No one (playing) in this series can ever make a plan in advance, given they have no idea what was built or messed up in the last 80 minutes or so of gameplay, given that each player has a different play style and skill level. The best part of the series by far though is when everyone has looked at s...

Inline Buffer and Transport Belt line Balancer. This is a simple design though it requires a bit of space to provide some inline buffering and Transport Belt Balancing. I've used it where I want to quickly mine out some ore deposits (either locally or via inbound trains), but I don't have the smelt...

Re: [YouTube] Factorio Fixit

It's just my opinion, but it isn't much of a "Fixit" if there isn't much to fix. It's interesting to see how a (somewhat) convoluted design can be made more efficient or effective, but if everything is working smoothly already, such a Fixit episode becomes more of a Factory Showcase than a...

Coal I don't use for anything else than plastic, therefore the fields are a waste (why is there no receipt to turn coal with water and a bit of magic into oil? ;) ) Check out the mod Coal liquefaction . Re: [MOD 0.10.2] Automatic Rail Laying Machine

What I like about this mod is that it automatically clears trees in it's path, while laying down rail. Makes laying rail down much easier than having to get out of the normal locomotive to clear the trees. What I don't so much like so much is controlling how or when it makes curves. My best advice i...
