Re: Demand rebalancer/inverse rebalancer
In both cases 6 mines stopped working. So adding a lane balancer there would not change the fundamental problem of unequal miner usage, it just changes the layout. With the latter case there's 9 tiles of belt which can now be removed. :D While true, I suspect that a lane balancer is costlier than t...

Re: Demand rebalancer/inverse rebalancer
I believe he means that instead of the ore tiles on one side of the conveyor getting emptied first, you'll change the problem to all the ore tiles furthest away from the mine's output getting emptied first. Mathematically, I suspect both result in the same output-over-lifespan. I still don't get it...

Re: Demand rebalancer/inverse rebalancer
For the reason why people advocate the underground belt version, I would guess because it is smaller. You completely ignored my point about the one with stuck items being broken in some situations, so I'm not sure how to have a discussion about the topic, if it's irrelevant what I say. It's 100% sa...

It is a 230h save file. But I have a couple older versions of it. At 64h evolution was 0.9991 and at 156h (I have no saves in between) it was already at 1.greep wrote:Okay, technically due to rounding I guess it can. Geeze how long is that save file?

Re: Demand rebalancer/inverse rebalancer
Why does people keep quoting the broken 3 underground version instead of this one? The underground one is broken as some items get stuck in it, that may be fine in many cases but it still leaves situation where it's bad. If you find wasting 13 items to be stuck in a balancer so bad, you should also...

Re: Which turrets are best?
At an evolution value of 1 the spawn rates for biters are 12.5% medium, 50% big, 37.5% behemoth . If we multiply those rates with their health, we find that 90.5% of the health will be for behemoth biters. An evolution factor of 1 cannot be reached, and it looks like those figures are on a scale ra...

Re: Demand rebalancer/inverse rebalancer
Another good reason for belt/lane balancers is to avoid that ore-fields are mined "unsymmetrical". Left miners are earlier exhausted than right. For example. That only applies if you use a fractal mining design, such as this one . For normal mining setups you just shift the left/right pro...

Re: How much [J] do you need for a solar panel?
I can confirm those values. Additionally, if you use electric furnaces and stuff everything full with efficiency 1 modules, each solar panel will cost 16 269 kJ.

Re: Which turrets are best?
The vast majority of damage late game will be done against Big Biters which have significantly less resistances to physical damage, behemoths are relatively rare [...] so using them as an example skews the results. At an evolution value of 1 the spawn rates for biters are 12.5% medium, 50% big, 37....

Re: Which turrets are best?
Bullets are cheap, accumulators and solar panels are not. But you need energy to make the bullets. If you account for that then it's not so clear cut. Lets calculate the energy consumption for gun turrets to kill one behemoth biter with fully upgraded turrets & ap rounds: 5000hp/behemoth / 32.3...

But I did say that at 12/13 beacons productivity becomes better - and additionally it is a very rare occurrence. You didn't say 12/13, you said 13: Only at 13 speed beacons (not sure you can even fit this many) the synergy between speed and productivity surpasses pure speed in crafting efficiency (...

Re: Module Math
But that is wrong. When using 11 or 12 speed beacons around a pumpjack, using one productivity and one speed is more productive than pure speed. See this test done ingame: http://imgur.com/a/lkIGVSyrchalis wrote:And that's also why depleted oil pumps should only use speed modules.

Yet another belt balancer compendium
I finally finished my own belt balancer compendium. Inside are all balancers with up to 8 input and output belts plus some additional balancers that I had still lying around. For example this compact throughput unlimited 8 belt balancer: http://i.imgur.com/DQSGD9d.png Balancers that I am relatively ...

Re: Examine savegames
I am a bit late for the question but I figured it out for 0.14 savegames. The info you want from the save zip is the level-init.dat file. Here is C++ code to output all mods with version numbers by reading from said file: int main() { string file = "C:\\Users\\USER\\Desktop\\level-init.dat"...

What graphics settings are you using? I made a short video to show off my problem and the [graphics] section of the config.ini: https://youtu.be/cXq95aZeuw4 Something to note is, that I still use the multisampling setting that is no longer supported. But I tried it with it set to 0 and had exactly ...

I experience this as well, render time in my base is usually around 4 ms and when I open up the production screen it goes up to 25ms. Definitifely not a hardware issue since I just got a GTX 1070.FPS loss in the productions tab. Usually halves the fps to open the production tab.

Do the loopbacks prevent throughput loss when output lanes are blocked? No, it is based on 4 3 belt balancer that go into 3 4 belt balancer. Those loopbacks are part of the 3 belt balancers and do not prevent troughput loss in such situations. Can you share the blueprint? Yes, I already did: https:...
