Just thought I should point out a potential "reason" or answer to this from the game's programming point of view. (In general game programming, not this one specifically.) But, it is likely that the farther an entity is from the player, this slower it "ticks" or "thinks"...

[0.11.19] [kovarex] Minor graphical glitch in terrain

Hey all, Just started a new game for fun and noticed this small graphical "hole" or tear. Its only visible at 1 zoom level, and another tear is visible at the next zoom level in. Not sure what other info I can get about the terrain to help track this down, let me know if you need anything ...
