Re: The Hydra Dilemma - A Coop Factorio Playthrough!

@infectum (ep 66): Nice to hear that you read the post. And nice to hear that you have time at work for other things, not like me. Please take also the time - if you didn't yet - to reread it while watching your video. Pause at the markers I gave you. If it makes click you don't have to worry about ...

Re: The Hydra Dilemma - A Coop Factorio Playthrough!

Hey new guy. I can't see you because your so far ... ok, not funny  So at least you can fight. But you also can't prank. Let's see the next time if and how you can build/micromanage ;) ( f.e. Copper plates are jamming on the belt. A buffer would be nice. ) To look only at around 50 artifact...

Re: The Hydra Dilemma - A Coop Factorio Playthrough!

Episode 64 is live! Oh root. That is more a prank against me. Such a good idea for a prank and after you waited over 50 episodes you fuck it up like this? 6 in each direction? At the lake you could have 15-20 in two directions and the wtf-moment because of the disappearing of a logistic network . M...

Re: The Hydra Dilemma - A Coop Factorio Playthrough!

you expect root to build trains ? I think the existing stations can be enough. The oil train hasn't that much to do. He can swap to one side and the other. But if the ore should also travel by train, it could be an idea to make at least two wagons. One has f.e. 2 stacks reserved for emtpy and ...

Re: The Hydra Dilemma - A Coop Factorio Playthrough!

Yes, the whole in the wall is still there. I have an eye on it. ;) I think it would be wrong to try to optimize everything in a way that everything is coordinated. Maybe that is not even possible. For my own base I go for modular production. The production chain doesn't hang in a line and the first ...

Re: The Hydra Dilemma - A Coop Factorio Playthrough!

@junion: One episode? I think even a full round of 5 episodes would hardly be enough. At least I would take that long. (yeah, I'm a bad player, I know  ) So if they really only want to go to rocket defense, it could be to late (i would say then there will be less than 100 episodes). But if ...

Re: The Hydra Dilemma - A Coop Factorio Playthrough!

@xterminator (ep 62): I was not the guy who told you just to rip up the steam engines. But if I reread it in regard of what you did, I can't just blame you for just misterunderstand what I meant. Perhaps "cut off steam engines after running completely on solar" was not clear enough. I mean...

Re: The Hydra Dilemma - A Coop Factorio Playthrough!

Oh infectum. That kind of episode where it is not possible without a bit of blaming ;) (And for those who hate long spoilers: I think it is needed here.) First of all: Shame on you to have the right intuition but sucking up the artifacts anyway There could be a reason and there was. If you don't kno...

Re: The Hydra Dilemma - A Coop Factorio Playthrough!

And look who is reading the spoilers. Did you read the spoiler to confirm he read it? ;) (I think the comment is also valid without the spoiler - and the spoiler isn't also that much spoiling) @fish (ep 60): I think the perfect stash would be the old left alone stone miner in the west. Not on the w...

Re: The Hydra Dilemma - A Coop Factorio Playthrough!

Yeah I suppose I could of done those things. But I figure if biters aren't coming into the base, then our defenses are fine. :p But that is the point. They ARE coming in from time to time. :P If they are able to break the last layer of walls, then the defense is not strong enough (and the base most...

Re: The Hydra Dilemma - A Coop Factorio Playthrough!

I honestly had my problems at the first (considerable) bases (20-25 spawners on the ore I needed so badly). It was a hard fight gaining tile after tile until one spawner after another was in reach of the lasers. Power Armor MK2 makes life easier  (...also for construction bots  )

Re: The Hydra Dilemma - A Coop Factorio Playthrough!

..At this point there is not much to do.. You really don't know what to do? What about basic stuff like a complete defense for the main base, durable defense for the outposts, getting more ore sites and oil, cut off steam engines after running completely on solar, ...? Just that basic stuff that wa...

Re: The Hydra Dilemma - A Coop Factorio Playthrough!

I truly congratulate you to your honest and suitable self reflection of the episode  I think the worst thing that could happen is the same as the oil site you left unprotected. This is more protected, but not forever. The next oil site is pretty obvious. Little hint: I is right next to the ...

What did you say around a month ago? And root didn't even get to my ideas... Thats because yours are quite harsh! Except for the first two (run far away and stone-prank) I can't remember any "nice" pranks from you. You did none or you played with death. Your definition of harsh i...

Re: The Hydra Dilemma - A Coop Factorio Playthrough!

I know why
the armor is still crap
:
Because everybody is obsessed with putting the artifacts into labs in form of SP4 (for such a useless* crap as rocket shooting speed) instead of collecting then making a good power armor mk2 with multiple exosceletons out of it
;) Simple as that.

I am surprised it didn't happen yet to the copper outpost

For your last question: I'm asking that myself for the whole episode

Re: Provider chests - only above logical limit

If I want not to connect unloading and storage area then I can't have the roboports in the flight to the border. Nearly every wagon is nearer to the border than the roboports At the moment I have three "productiv" (= not protective) areas separated from the main logistic network. Unloading...

Re: Self defending independent radar layout

Actually the idea with the little islands isn't as bad as I thought. I placed some at the edges of the known map, if the island size allowed also with some accumulators, and now the known map grows as a side product (and I will get an idea where the next good islands are.

Re: Provider chests - only above logical limit

Experimented a bit and the logistic system alone can't handle the throuput needed for 2 trains x 3 1/2 wagons. Even with 4 roboports they jam up for recharging. If I also use belts, then I get again the system I already had. Third try would be to use the bots also for a direct transfer over border-c...
