Re: depot
Thank you for the link - a dept like this is essential for production, i think. I the game i miss it very often. Perhaps it is possible to take an train-waggon for this? It is indeed a known trick to place a train wagon on a tiny piece of railway to act as a big chest. It feels a bit hacky imo, but...

Re: Game idea
There are so many games I want to combine Factorio with. A City builder where you would have to produce the building materials in your factory, as well as construct the actual city, is just one of them. What if the rocket you launch was a Kerbal Space Program game? What if the Tanks you can mass pro...

Re: Remove circuit networks
Hahaha what a completely useless thread. Instead of removing circuit networks, can we just remove OP instead? My rationale is that OP add nothing to the actual game. Absolutely nothing. They just take up space. Edit: ok I'll add a few examples of good use. Balancing oil production. Instead of manual...

Re: Loader Poll - Trying to get an idea of what the opinions are
Since the loader is just a ramp for belts, to tip stuff into chests/trains, I don't see why it should be expensive, require anything to run, or be late-research. If you think you can really feed a Factory of loaders all running full tilt, then I tip my hat to you. Makes sense that assemblers cannot...

Re: Friday Facts #128 - Back down to earth
In my opinion, the proposed Loader is nowhere close to OP. I play factorio primarily with full set of Bob's mods, which add crazy additional complexity to production chains. As such there are much more items to manage and juggle all over the place. Because of this, belts are even less useful in the...

Re: Friday Facts #128 - Back down to earth
I like the idea of loaders, but I feel it should only work on special storage chests, maybe even bigger storage chests. If it should work with assemblers then add a new tier of assembler as the only type of assembler compatible with it. To people whining about it being overpowered: - Don't be afraid...

Re: Buying on factorio.com vs on Steam
Also Steam syncs saves between computers afaik. Very handy for some.
I believe eventually they will allow Steam-buyers to download the game from the website too, but not yet.

Re: Factorio IRC Mod Abuse.
Kane, How about instead of instantly telling the op to "Fuck Off" when told to stop posting a link, you tell them "sorry" and/or explain why you posted the link. It's your instant resolving to profanity and insults that got you banned, not the advertising. His comment about adver...

Re: Friday Facts #99 - MP forwarding
I guess in that scenario where S & A are on LAN at the same location, the latency of relaying would be pretty much zero, but I suppose this can happen in scenarios where S & A isn't actually on LAN or even geographically near each other. Very nice promotional picture, but I would like a bit ...

Re: Friday facts #94 - No 0.12 Release today
I always prefer shirts without text on them. It should be something from the game but it should look good on its own, and should not have the game/movie/band name on it for example, just a bunch of conveyor belts or inserters, maybe arranged in a clever way that makes sense to those who play Factori...

Oh nice, finally some VRAM reduction. I think I had some problem with that before, but I never really figured out if that was the actual cause of my lag or not, because sometimes it would work just fine.

Re: Friday Facts #70 The smooth fps
RT dev is not about being fast, or simultaneous, but about always being on time, whatever the unfavorable conditions. Exactly. This game could never achieve true Real-Time, because the OS is doing the scheduling for CPU time and you can't (and probably shouldn't) make Factorio get a high enough pri...

Re: [MOD 0.10.x] Water Void
I use steam engines to drain the water. I don't even have to boil the water first, it just disappears in the engines anyway.
This would maybe be a bit fancier way to do it though.
