there is only 1 furnace, only 2 power sources, extremely boring grinding research system, only 1 type of enemy. what you will do in coop, if there is nothing to do in SP - factories could be built faster. in most cases image hosters allow to keep image intact, steganography detection a bit hard, it unlikely that someone will instantly ban user for hosting images with metadata.

there is completely no need to save entire world, state of machines, amount of resources, contents of chests and many other things, only data that must be stored: X\Y + machine ID + metadata. all this data can be embedded into screenshot in form of pixels with special color or directly embedded data...

currently gameplay is grinding only, mp wont keep players if there is nothing to do, i just cant see any reason to "play" current version of factorio, edge tech progression done by 1 hour grinding and then there is nothing to do, placing over 9999 inserters all around is not fun. there is ...

many actually good games are SP, this is not "issue", much more better to invest time into gameplay improvements

mp\coop is very valueble feature but without pvp and with currently extremely limited gameplay it will be obsolete, there is nothing to do, just mindless grinding of tech packs, no tactical or strategic weapons, no real advancement in tech.

1) Randomness part defined by random seed (read some knuth), storing seed inside replay data will allow to produce consistent results in replay, in machine independant way, soo replay will be always same if implemented properly.
