Re: Multiple Game folders, or Multiple Mod folders....

Sounds like a plan, but with the incredibly low price of multi-terabyte hard drives and even SSDs, having multiple entire copies of the same game isn't such a big deal. Examples: 1TB Crucial M.2 drive $99. This can hold your entire OS and a couple dozen large, modern games easily and will be incredi...

Re: 70 hours in my current game and still havent done yellow science

I mean, I think I have used long time in current game compared to what other people would but I have learned stuff. Everyone is different. I started a long time ago, so there were no yellow science packs, but I definitely went in some directions that some might consider unusual and others consider ...

Re: Tank + Nuclear fuel + Re-enforced concrete = Me crashing in to my own base

Does tanks in real life accelerate as fast as the tank with nuclear fuel does in factorio? Moot point since there are no nuclear powered tanks yet (irl) and they are a long way off since the issues of size, radiation shielding and mass relative to the rest of the tank will be major factors. a tank ...

Re: My number 1 lesson from my first game

I prefer rebuilding. This lets you build compactly in the beginning, especially useful in games with high alien settings, then when you need to scale up you can do it massively without any regard to what you had before. Then you can clear the old stuff for use in something else. This is not to say t...

Re: who thinks like me

I also thought it would be interesting to see Factorio on other platforms, i.e. iPad Pro or Galaxy Tab S6. The problem is getting to all controls via the touchscreen. As far as computing power, I played Factorio on GeForce NOW and it was fine. You just need a strong network connection instead. If y...

Re: Pollution Scubber

No. Such a device is unrealistic and do not give interesting gaming mechanics. I would prefer for example ecological modules for advanced pollution control. They could reduce pollution at cost of speed, power consumption and maybe productivity. It would be more consistent to reduce pollution by add...

It is a pain in the rear to click it without scrolling accidentally up or down. is your mouse 10 years old, or did it come with a completed sticker bonus card from your local coffee shop? :P While the rest of this thread is too dated to have replied to otherwise, I do have to take exception to your...

Is it possible to group mods by category in the mod manager?

i.e.: non-game-changing, circuit network, armor, balancing, utility. This would, for one example, make finding the one mod out of several dozen that is making generated maps completely different from the preview much easier. Edit: And also figure out what 'advanced start' mods I have, since I seem t...

Re: Old chem plant setup...fixable?

It is neither awkward nor edge case. Not awkward because it was not quite trivial to design, but close enough not to matter. It got the job of allowing two processes to be performed by one chem plant array done simply and in a relatively compact space while allowing for extension at the far end. Tha...

I know this sounds strange, but unless you are affected by the fixes, you could ... skip the version?
And instead play some more?
That would be Cheating.
Oh, do enlighten us. How exactly is playing an older version of a game cheating?

Re: Why i will never play 0.17

0.17 pros: - better fluid dynamics (no need to put a pump after each underground pipe anymore) You never needed to put a pump after each underground pipe. The new fluid dynamics are a bigger problem than solution. I do agree however on the new quickbar, especially the use of the MMB to clear slots....

Turret creep hypocrisy

I notice that now the player can't use turret creep, but the bugs are programmed to do it.

Found this out when I got an alert from one corner of my base where the bugs had built a nest and several of their large, long range spitters and began decimating my defensive wall and turrets.

Re: Old chem plant setup...fixable?

Somehow the chem plants which have a water input and a light oil input while running the cracking recipe, but both as light oil inputs when running the solid fuel recipe, are allowing flow between the two inputs when the latter is running. are you sure about it, that the light oil is really flowing...

Re: [0.17.16] Wrong "can't mix fluids" message when changing recipe

It's not about inputs. They have put the cart before the horse, by defining pipe contents based on what the machine expects to be coming in, so you can't switch the recipe because the new recipe wants to redefine an input that is being defined by the existing recipe. The more I look at it, the more ...

Re: Chem plant issue since pipe "fix"

A) It breaks something that worked fine before. B) If you mixed inputs in a real chemical plant, I would want to be far, far away. To me, that's a bug, or at the very least a design flaw. Even the premise is ridiculous on the face of it...setting pipe contents based on what the machine expects as an...

Chem plant issue since pipe "fix"

At first I thought it was a problem caused by the fluid handling fix, but this morning I noticed something that revealed the true problem to be in the chemical plants and only revealed by the fluid handling fix: https://forums.factorio.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=69207&p=421136#p421136 Essentia...

Re: Old chem plant setup...fixable?

Something I noticed from a fresh perspective this morning is that after I pumped the water out AND disconnected the pipe-to-ground between the pump and the offending water pipes then got the recipe working, said water pipes became light oil pipes, even though the only thing connecting them to the li...

Re: Old chem plant setup...fixable?

Thanks, I missed that. I'll try pumping the water out first, as it's just a simple step rather than having to build an entirely new array and rearrange everything else. Edit: No luck, even with the water sucked out the game still sees them as "water pipes". Why was this change made anyway?...

Old chem plant setup...fixable?

I have this old array of chem plants that I used to switch between cracking light oil to petroleum and making solid fuel from light oil, simply by changing the 'recipe'. This doesn't work in 0.17. https://imgur.com/a/XPdDeeJ I get an error message when I try to set it to solid fuel, and I can't set ...
