The actual issue is that save directory isn't configurable, which forces the player to tweak with the filesystem. Make it configurable in config.ini and nobody cares about the junction issue anymore.cube wrote:It IS a bug ... it just has a very low priority and a complicated solution

Since that should be simple to add I also request a full tech chain of ships, docks, water bots/critters, offshore refineries, krakens, etc. And torpedo launchers, sonar stations, tidal power generators, submarines, underwater power cables, mobile roboport carrier ships, sharks with lasers, wet t-s...

Re: [0.9.8] Save folder cannot be behind a junction point
I haven't used windows for years, but I was under impression that the new symlink mechanism was preferred over the junctions unless you really needed lowlevel junctions. I don't have any documentation to back this up though (and I stopped using windows before symlinks were implemented) so you can ta...

You shouldn't use junction points for this anyway, use ntfs symlinks instead (see mklink /d)

Re: File based configuration options (for mods)
The new modding write+remove all operate in the script-output folder, not per-save or anything either. it's probably there for debug purposes, so mods can write their own log files or dump debug data or whatever... Anyway, it's a fairly bad idea to let mods read some global config that isn't tied to...

I like the idea of some resource fields giving mixed set of ore. Forcing players to use smart inserters sounds good

Forum guidelines needed
It's obvious these forums need a clear set of guidelines. A set of rules which all participants must abide to. It should help keep threads stay on topic and everyone feel comfortable. It should also help keep moderation consistent and predictable. Here are two examples of what I mean: Bay12 Forum Gu...

I actually restart if my starting areas has too much oil, it's ridiculous if there's 20-30 oil patches available right in the beginning.

Too true. Time for me to take a break and not be baited further... I just need something to do, And I can't play Factorio because of the power pole placement crash bug. Ohwell, I'll figure something.VapidLinus wrote:Holy shit this discussion got out of hand o.o

Re: Pirating as a 'demo'. Your opinions?
Since all people used the word differently than what the word actually meant, THE DEFINITION CHANGED. A definition is based on how we all choose to use a word, argument ad populum applies to immovable facts, which are not swayed or changed by the opinions of the majority. Holy fscking bullshit. You...

Re: Pirating as a 'demo'. Your opinions?
You can distribute your software without granting a license to it to every downloader. When you copyright a piece of software you are making it illegal to copy that game or software without permission. It is perfectly reasonable to release a torrent and ask that only license holders use that torren...

Re: Pirating as a 'demo'. Your opinions?
This is getting huge again. Just because the developer released the torrent, doesn't make it legal for you not to pay for the game/software when it has a legal copyright Yes it does. Copyright is about the exclusive right to make copies. Copyright infringement (casually speaking "piracy") ...

Re: Pirating as a 'demo'. Your opinions?
The game is still copyrighted and subject to copyright law. They never grant permission to break this copyright. They make an illegal torrent that makes breaking the copyright easy, but without granting some sort of license with the torrent, it is still illegal to install that torrent and run the g...

You actually made the claim that starcraft 2 doesn't use DRM This is a lie. What I was saying that DRM isn't some magical property attached to things. It's always a specific technology and I was speculating what parts of SC2 are DRM and what are not. You are twisting my words. Not cool. Uploading a...

Some people disagree with you, and think the devs have taken actions that impede piracy while restricting what legitimate users can do. Not this again... As a legitimate user I really want to install the patches from an official USB stick, but they aren't sending me one in the mail! They should pro...

This belongs now to a meta-meta-discussion. :) I'm not sure, but as moderator I should have to stop this, but my personal feeling is ... indifferent. I feel guilty for participating in the meta-meta too. This thread went bad pretty early and turned into completely random chat thread somehow. And th...
