Bump. This is so annoying. What's the point of landfill in blueprints if you can't place them on water?

I'm playing on an island map and need to drive around placing large sections of rails on water.

Looking at your minimap - are you trying to farm those biters on the island? Do they have a way to pathfind to your base? I recall that biters will do strange things if they hav eproblems pathing to their target - and going around water is not exactly best ...

... like clicking regenerate in the map preview. Opinion ahead: The point of restarting is that you get a new map. Otherwise you cant tell people with island spawns to just click restart. If you want the exact same map, just copy the map exchange string and generate a map with that.

... You might start in the middle of a huge ocean. The game could add some suitable tile to place the player. But then you are standing on a 1x1 island and the game would be unplayable. So instead you get the error message and it gives up. Now since you disabled all terrain types the map generator ...

What is the reason for this? I wanted to create island with roboports in a large lake because the drones keep running out of power crossing all that water.

... quite drastic geometric shapes - After all we are the ones doing slight terraforming by using landfills ;-) Also i still ended up on an very small island a few times when i was generating maps to find a suitable new map without obvious geometric shapes.
