yeah had a similar error.

here was a typo in the gui.cfg - these files are located under \factorio\data\core\locale\urlanguage... and then i had to go to line 183 (gui-mod-info])and add the "[" character. after that the game starts...

the new graphics look so awesome :)

I just checked it (downloaded 32 bit installer and it works fine).
I will try with vista later.

After reading this I tried the installer instead of the zip package and I still get the same error on vista.

On both *.exe and *zip Win 32 bit I am getting the error "Factorio.exe is not a valid Win32 application." Not sure if related, but it just applies a default icon instead of the usual factorio icon.

This is on Win XP 32 bit. Running the current stable build just fine - actually, amazingly optimized game. So much stuff happening and never slows down.

sounds like a corrupted download to me :) Course I could be completely wrong

Not sure. I've tried the download twice now for the *.exe and the *.zip and still claims it's not a valid Win32 application. I tried the 0.3.0 demo and same thing. I downloaded the latest stable build 0.2.10 and that one installs and runs just fine.

We have a 64-bit Win 7 machine in the house and I downloaded the 64 bit version of 0.3.0 and it runs great. I will just play the new version on that computer and when the teen kicks me off his computer I can just play 0.2.10 on my 32 bit Win XP system. :)

@Wardiapaper That it uses the default icon is because the icon Path changed and the seem to have forgotten to change that for the desktop icon.

@TwixMan I am sorry for that error beacause it was my fault(failed at the german translation). As I already posted on the corresponding translation thread, I was simply a typo and didn't test it afterwards. Maybe you can help out as your time allows because I am quite alone working on the german translations(there are two others but I haven't heard much of them for the last weeks).

Best regards

Win7x64 (Amd X6/Amd Readon HD6800)

When I try to start the game, I get: Content Title // C:/.../gui.cfg(183): '=' character not found in line
This happens to both, x68 and x64 Version in german and english. (Just installed and then execute the game => error)

@Armlor I know because you install the game in english but it doesn't set your ingame language during install(-->the game is still in english). The easiest solution would be navigating to the folder "C:\Program Files\Factorio\data\core\locale\de" and replace gui.cfg with the file appended at this post. I hope this helps(and again I am very sorry for the problem)

The source of this problem is that Factorio was compiled in the new visual studio with incompatible optimisations for Windows Vista. So if you are running Windows Vista you might encounter this issue. Our testing environment is Windows 7. We will provide a bugfix release (0.3.1) soon. Sorry for the inconveniences.
