playing the latest alpha... and I haven't played in a few months... got interested again... anyway.. I've noticed this with a few things.. but specifically I have a pump in the water... 13 boilers and 10 steam engines in series... I put coal in the boilers.. they work for like a few seconds and then quit... even though they have 49 coal sitting in them.... must be something I just don't remember.!

What are you doing with all the electricity?

If you don't use the electricity from the steam engines, then the boilers will shut down until it's used.

Have you done all according to https://forums.factorio.com/wiki/inde ... el_powered ?

Also, by left-clicking on a pole you can check your electricity network data. Here's the wiki link https://forums.factorio.com/wiki/inde ... infoscreen

When all of this doesn't help, a couple of screenshots (your pump/boiler/steam engine set-up e.g.) might give someone here a clue on what went wrong.
