Trains vs. Robots

Post by Tyr4el »

In your games do you make use of both or just one usually? I can't think of the difference between the two other than that one can travel a great distance fairly quickly and the other can still travel great distances but may need to recharge in between and has fewer slots for transport.

Can anyone help me out with figuring out the uses for both. What do you use trains and robots for?

Well, robots are much more expensive, both in initial cost and in running cost.
Also, the bigger your logistic network the more the robots tend to take silly routes. If you have a logistic network spanning thousands of tiles you may have an unreliable supply, as bots may be deployed from far away roboports to take care of local jobs.

I use both trains and bots, but I tend to use bots only for small areas, usually for unloading trains as you need a lot of capacity in a very small area. Anything over a few dozens of tiles gets belts, and anything over a few hundreds gets trains.
