Steam power, I'm missing something

Haven't played since .13 and apparently I've forgotten how to do simple things like get steam power up and running.
Placed offshore pump in water, its showing 100% water @ 1200/s
Connected boiler to pump, and added 50 coal. The boiler burned 2 coal and stopped
Connected steam engine boiler, the performance and available performance bars are empty, the unplugged triangle is flashing]
built lab connected to steam engine with power lines. The unplugged triangle disappeared but the red no power triangle is flashing above the lab

What am I doing wrong?

You have to connect it in the opposite way. The water goes in on the short side, and the steam comes out on the long side.

This was changed in 0.15, so it's not that you have forgotten it :)

I think the boiler is one too high (the input does not align with the output of the pump).

Actually
Thank you!

Edit:
An die Deutschen hier: Ich wollte "tatsächlich" schreiben. Ist "actually" das richtige Wort dafür?

Make sure to press Alt to show where it can input and output. Boilers now show output only on the steam side.

Baßtscho :-)

I am sure you were understood.

So 1 boiler for 2 steam engines is the new ratio ?

Indeed; And one pump can feed 20 boilers.
