Apparently the character is so talented that he can mine with one hand and shoot with the other!

How to reprodoce, just start a map or load one, go near biters until they start chasing you and go for some mining, start mine a tree or a rock, and hold space for shooting, he continue mining and shoot biters if they come close.

Well like you said, he's talented

Don't forget that you can throw grenades and shoot as well.

Yeah, very useful feature. Especially when mining rocks near bases
