for me, on win 7 x64, both the auto update and the standalone zip download start up normal, i get the black screen with the loading bar, but at around 15% the game completely disappears, nothing left in taskbar as well, the only sign the game is still running is factorio.exe in the Processes tab in Windows Task Manager (it's not in the Applications Tab). I can't kill factorio.exe in task manager, not with End Process nor End Process Tree. I left it running for 10 minutes, but nothing happens.

It's only using 104KB memory, according to task manager.

Wheeelp?

Edit: 32 bit version works, so it's just the 64 bit version that disappears

I re-downloaded the x64 version and it works fine for me (I use win 7 64 bit as well), so I don't know what could be wrong (especially when the win32 works for you).

The 0.9.2 worked normally?

0.9.2 sometimes crashed on startup, but if it started, it worked fine. Are there any logs i can show you?

I have an idea what could cause this, one change that I did related to display, it ackowledges resize just after created to avoid some bug, it could theoretically cause trouble, I can create test binary for you that doesn't do this, so you can tell me if it solves the problem or not.

I found the cause, Avast anti virus.. I don't know what it's trying to do, since it's seems to be blocking the file without giving any warning, but now that i've turned it off, the game runs fine.

Looks like I will have to adjust some settings to stop it from happening again (just whitelisting factorio.exe might not be enough if future versions will have a different name). I will post again if I find a setting to permanently fix it, but turning off Avast will fix it for now.

Thanks

Ok, I'm happy that it was resolved. The binary file name will probably stay the same (Factorio.exe) for some time.

im having a problem with the inventory screen size in general. you made it wayyyyyyy to big. it would have been better to leave it as it was or have it so you can permanently change the GUI screen size as i cannot play factorio cause i cant craft anything or change what section im looking at

The big inventory is caused by the big number of recycler recipes in the dytech mod.
I already implemented way to solve this (to enable to hide the recipes), but it would be in the next version.

I had the same problem due to Dysoch mod.
I just deleted recycle recipes.

0.9.3 won't be released for linux at all. You'll have to wait a few more days for 0.9.4. Sorry for that.
