I just wanted to update from 0.11.18 to 0.11.21 - why does the automatic updater have to download core-win64-0.11.15-0.11.16-update.zip? It also wants to download other files which don't look like they would help, because they appear to be for other versions.

Oups, there were two problems actually, and the 0.11.20 was already different when it was updated compared to when it was downloaded, so I made another fix and it now works for me properly when I update from 0.11.19 to 0.11.21

It works! (.20 to .21)

Thanks for the fast fix. You are awesome.

The game still downloads files like core-win64-0.11.8-0.11.9-update.zip despite that I already have version 0.11.18. Is that normal or another bug?

That is strange, are you sure these are not the scenario pack files?

I tried it again and this time it did work. Looks like it did solve itself. :)

I played around a bit with the storage on drills - it seems that for Dy-Tech gems to work correctly it needs to have 10 storage slots.
It works nicely then - trick will be to get advanced enough to actually be able to mine those in ShadowMegaModpack.

Lol...
Proper error message when the game can't handle too big amount of prototypes due to big amount of mods loaded at the same time.

My doing xD?

Increased the maximum amount of item subgroups. (255 -> 65535)

Thanks! needed this;)! Subgroups were causing issues with too much mods!

Yup.
But don't feel bad, I think he's fixed 4 things because of me in the past 2 updates.

Exactly, I think that's how Korvarex feels when fixing the bugs too.

Those forward slashes look suspicious to me...

Windows 8.1 64bit.
You need to run the game in elevated rights (run as administrator) or give your user permission to change the folder where the game is installed. If that doesn't work - then install the game in a different folder than the default "Program files" folder because windows makes a "safe zone" for installing programs d/l from the internet to isolate them from sabotaging the OS and probably considering "Factorio" to be one such program...

I usually install games (and steam games) in a "C:\game" or "D:\games" folder. that way I have control over it and can make sure it installed or uninstalled correctly without leaving any files I don't need behind

Please let us know if this advise helped you so others can do the same

F.Y.I. - updated from 11.20 -> 11.21 went OK :!: very happy :D

Can't wait for new content. Bugfixes are good, but new content is better. I am hyped for 0.12 just like I am hyped for Terraria 1.3 . But I hope I won't have to wait until 0.12 as long as for 1.3 of Terraria.

Just a tiny question, is there going to be an optimalization update in the very far future? My save became unplayable again :( (I think its the pipelines..)

What do you mean by pipe lines?

We have one optimisation already done for 0.12 (roughly 10% for train + inserter based maps).

I'm also working on transport belt rewrite right now, which should help a lot (These were the biggest drags), once this is done we shall see ...

Pipes are always active.

But I have a huge pipe network and they don't seem to be causing any noticeable slowdown.

Edit: Just deleted 19,500 pipe-to-ground in an inactive factory. It boosted my UPS from 17.6 to 18.9.

Probably something like

Code: Select all

cat /dev/iron_mine | stone_furnace | tee storage | assembly_machine -r gears
(Ok, maybe that was a bit too much :P )
