I know enemies show up on the radar, but I usually don't pay much attention to that until I get a warning something is being attached.
As a solution, I think it would be cool to have a "Tripwire" that you can set outside your base to give you warning when enemies cross it.
It should be quite early tech, before you have walls around your base.
Also, a radar upgrade that beeps when enemies enter the scanning area.
Just a thought.
[Request] Tripwire
Re: [Request] Tripwire
i have no idea how that would be scripted but see my idea for a simple one use tripwire/decoy.
Re: [Request] Tripwire
According to Friday Facts #66 there are plans for enemy sensors in the game in 0.12:

Re: [Request] Tripwire
Until the devs put in an actual warning sensor, wouldn't it be possible to create a land mine like item, but that does 0 damage and doesn't self-destruct? I suppose technically it would behave like a turret...

Re: [Request] Tripwire
I spent a few minutes to make something like this.
Please tell me if that's what you wanted.
Edit:// The item is listed under weapons and looks like a landmine
