I guess my future "turret creep" setups with recursive blueprints will become a "train obliteration" setup.

I wonder, is there a reason why you devs don't give us artillery turrets with larger range, but suddenly you throw that monster at us?

Also consider that the artillery wagon doesn't target biters/spitters, and so could agro a LOT of aliens, and late-game (where the wagon is supposed to come into play) there will be a lot of behemoths. I don't think turret creep will be able to handle swarms of that magnitude.

That artillery train looks awesome! Somehow looks a bit over realistic without textures but I'm sure it will look absolutely amazing when done. Also, I love the fact that I don't even need to get out of my train to shoot at nests now!

I think that the new terrain is really nice, when i look at the pictures you posted.... and it really needs the water tide.

While I enjoy this new train cannon (super cool!), I was under the impression that the point of an artillery train would be to defend train tracks against biters. This way we wouldn't have to surround tracks with walls or the such. With this, it would require a player to drive the train around and stop the train to shoot stuff. And once that happens, the train would be overrun by biters...

Maybe I'm just being naive as I haven't actually played with it yet, but two suggestions:
- Add a short range turret (perhaps nuclear powered laser turret) car to defend the train from the incoming waves. This would be great when expanding into enemy territory as you can just let the cannon fire away while the turrets defend and you can build track effortlessly. On the other hand, perhaps the combat robots would do? But they don't have too much range and may require you to exit the train to get the backend.
- Make a config thing (in the cannon turret) that would stop the train when it comes in range of bases. This way the train can automatically destroy bases without requiring the player to stop it. (and the player can be in his base while the military train(s) defend)

But again, maybe these things would just flesh out with a different playing style and strategy. We'll see!

Atrillary train looks awesome! however, I think some imprecision needs to be added. So players are discouraged from sniping small 1/2 spawner bases from 500 blocks away. the imprecision would still allow you to easily clear most of a big base, because if you miss your target,t heres another target right next to it ;)

With a "precision" research? I think it's good that you are able to clear small bases. That's kind of the point: to clear bases. Shouldn't matter the size.

I have 3 question about the new artillery wagon...
First, can it shoot while moving? ( That include manual targeting)
Second, will it be able to shoot nuclear bombs? (The ones that you use the rocket launcher for)
Third, does it use the same ammo that the tank does.

Also that artillery projectile flying on the map reminds me so much of Total Annihilation

200 ??? no, 224 is automatic mode... its range is 560 tiles in manual mode... <<drools>>

I'm hoping that the artillery train will be in our 0.16 present. It will be quite useful to clear out areas for base expansion late game.
