You guys should use OBS to stream/record. It's free and very efficient (and simple to hook up to Twitch). I get no noticeable performance drop no matter what I stream or record with it. FRAPS is ancient and frankly awful.

This. I already did like 50+ Hours on this game just doing this none stop. The only downside is my own energy starts running low but it hardly hits OBS Performance.

OBS is used not just for streaming but recording too and it will make the correct file sizes for you so you don't have to put them through video editing software.

I run 2 copies normally one for Youtube and one for streaming. The reason I do this is the streaming one is too compressed for my tastes on Youtube. The Streaming one only takes like 1-3% my CPU Anyways the recording one is more like 7-8%. Because of a DirectX issue I assume? you will need to use Window Capture not Game Capture due to it crashing Factorio.

Thanks for the tip. We will give it a try.

When i login, it says 0,9,8 in the about tab. I have auto updates and experimental builds on. Am i doing something wrong here?

I would have expected the alpha 0.9.8 auto update to prompt for an update even with no experimental enabled, since 0.10.12 is now alpha. This does not happen.
Some single bit might need to be reversed - somewhere on the update server. (Unless the 0.9.8 has an updater bug.)

std::stable_sort to the rescue?

If you are using an nvidia gtx600 series or newer use the shadowplay feature. Uses the card for the recording so you get only a 1-2 fps loss average on high graphics games. This way frees up your cpu for the game while still recording at max quality. I use it for all my recordings and streaming. OBS is nice too.

I think the quality of NVENC is not up to the same standards of x264 yet.

Yes, it would be one of the solutions, but providing secondary sorting parameter was more robust. Anyway, once we knew where is the problem, repairing is the easy part :)
