well its a question how they implement the sync .. but putting a proxy onto a dedicated server to be reachable and play with other mates should be a easy thing todo ..

apart from that .. there are privat vlans like hamachi to bridge that gap

I have the server not at home ;). It's a Professional Root Server so i do not need a Vlan system, it is a Static IP.

i sayed you surly be able to use a proxy ..

in the end those are tcp connections right ?
a proxy can be a linux daemon .. however you can forward your local traffic torwards that proxy and use that as a star topologie for connecting and creating a Vlan .. software defined networking would be easyer .. but it does not mather what your infastructure it is ..

VPN would be a other way .. unless they implement a middle-ware a regular server makes no sense what so ever . so you need to work out the network bridgeing ether via vlan / vpn or proxy those connections

ps .. if the ip is static or not or the location of the server has nothing todo with the fact that you need to bridge the network anyway

as usual in IT there are multiple ways to rome .

Yes.

Eventually our goal is for the game to be playable just fine over regular internet. But the point is that we start small (which is the LAN).

The spitters will most probably have their own spawner. I played with the autoplacing settings and the result is that it is often a little bit furhter away than regular spawners. But most importantly there is a evolutionfactor threshold of 0.3 before which even the spitter spawner will spawn regular biters. This is to avoid spitters attacking early on in the game before the player has construction robots, etc.

It will be at MFF. More information here: http://artemis.ms.mff.cuni.cz/main/tiki ... evelopment (search for Factorio on the webpage)

The prelimiary harmonogram says
31.10 9.00 - 15.00 - invited guests (game devs) & educative games:
-> 9h Factorio: experience from doing a startup
-> 10:30 another guest
It's not clear where that will be, though :P

Don't worry. It is not clear to us either :D I think it will be in one of the "S" rooms. Maybe S4?

I am pretty sure it will be in S4 as that room is reserved for the subject this presentation is connected with. The thing that bothers me is the size of that room. It's smaller than the rest of the lecture halls.

Well, get the factor: [sold copies this year] / [sold copies last year]
Now calculate: [factor] * 10

You need at least this many chairs. ^^

I was almost going to ask if there would be a video recording of the presentation, but when I clicked on that link I quickly remembered that I don't understand Czech

On the MP note.. I run a server for my gaming guild. I think they'd be interested if I could set a Factorio server going to run dedicated and persistently. Think something like this might be possible in the future?
