Well, got a new computer running with default settings.
I will see if the problem persists with my updated driver...

It's a 2D graphics game, the settings will come down to personal preference not performance on all hardware worth buying of the last 5 years and if not run on such hardware the game will lower the settings automatically anyway.

You could try running a memory test since similar errors have been caused by unstable CPU/RAM. https://www.memtest.org/
