Yeah I noticed that right away and it reminded me of "Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet" a lot as well.
Now why we need alien eggs to research advance technologies or better yet build futuristic tech is beyond me. Are they made of some rare polymer that is impossible to synthesize or something ?

That is because those are ferilised alien eggs. What you see is baby aliens. What you do is grind them to dust and make science packs 3 out of them. You monster.
