everytime i restart steam(about once a week or on a steamupdate), it fully redownloads the factorio client.
i noticed this since the steamversion release, with a 100mbit line and factorio only beeing ~100MB its not a big thing, but i wonder if thats intended?
ps: havent launched factorio yet, still waiting for .13 to drop.

Once a week is approximately the patch release rate.

It only redownloads the changed files, but since the Factorio binary is one massive file (presumably it contains all dependencies?) this means that every change in the code calls for a massive download.
Still, at least the graphics and sounds aren't downloaded with each update (at least, I think they're not).

As for 0.13 - You'll be waiting for a month or two, at the very least. No reason not to enjoy some 0.12 actions until then :)

The update from 0.12.26 to 0.12.27 is only 14MB on Steam, and the previous one was about the same size.
I think Steam also performs a diff or similar to updates so it doesn't have to download the whole binary (and the .pdb), just the differences.

the download is allways the same size, 113MB.
i probably need to start it up at least once, so it gets recognized? ill try that. soon-ish.

I already asked the question, only new files are redownloaded. But when there's a rework of ... the audio file for example, i'ts quiclky a lot bigger.
