My own last campaign level solution

Hi all,
I just finished the last campaign level (as testing of the new release).
I was so glad I can play the game for some time finally :)
Maybe you would like to see how my factory looked like :)
I finished the level in 1:09:00 and I believe it is possible to do it much faster.
I used several ideas of you (players of factorio) while playing the level, mainly the compact smelting line with the help of underground belt and balancer of the iron on belt.
I also took advantage of the new splitter piece, it is really useful when I had 8 towers and wanted to split the ammo production between them.

Here is the image of the factory right before finishing the level.

Very nice! I can see advanced factories built using those new additions, logic gates & other awesome stuff the community is making very soon! ;)

Brilliant!

Do we have a new speed challenge for the community?

Just did it in 1:02
Hand loaded the majority of it too!

v0.2.9 save for replay: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10727888/Factor ... eedRun.zip

I missed saving before completing. Wait autosave wins, missing last two minutes: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10727888/Factor ... inutes.zip
*warning* my design is not pretty :P

I like challenges, but is it fair when I compete? :)
I needed to test the Finnish translation, so I tried once more anyway, and I pushed it little bit more :)

I'm glad that industrialisation won against manual labor :)

Time 00:38:23
I made ton of mistakes and very little planning, I'm almost sure that it can't be done under 30 minutes :)

Very nice! :D

I look forward to seeing more. I've been taking my time learning the past few days, but speed runs can bring about new and interesting strategies. Perhaps some will even make their way in to challenge scenarios or part of the campaign.

Were there any native survivors? If so then your task is not yet complete.

Hmm I think it might be doable in under 30. The research can be completed in ~10 minute with a good setup. The problem lies in how fast you can create the layout.

I think I'll give it another shot with the design shown below. I might modify it to remove the loops in order to save some time.

Hi,

I registered an account so I could post up my time but it got blow away Kovarex...

Here it is anyway, thanks for the 8 way ammo split idea, I made liberal use of that :)
I used pipes are makeshift walls to divert creeps.
Gonna go back and try for a faster time.

Nice little challenge. After the first attempt taking 45 mins and the second fell just 23 secs short of beating the 38:26, I had to go for third :)

Time 34:04
v0.2.8
Most of the factory can be seen in the image, iron foundry continues a bit to the left, iron mine is there and copper just south of screenshot.

Notice just 3 turrets - defense is overrated :)

Under 30:00 is doable too, but needs a bit of planning, or dare I say - practice.

One thing i saw that i've always wanted to try is the turret setup
Being fed by ammunition
I usually just overproduce like a chest of ammo and give each one a stack of 50 and not have to reload for awhile
