Re: Putting a plan in a book

The thing about drag-and-drop, though, is that it's harder to control, which means it's easier to accidentally drop somewhere you didn't mean to. Now you have to go find what you dropped. Plus, blueprints are put at a specific position in a book. Drag-and-drop doesn't give you the chance to decide w...

Re: Putting a plan in a book

Not sure what you're getting at.

You can already put blueprints in a blueprint book.

You can also put a blueprint book inside another blueprint book.

What are you wanting to do?

Re: Train Schedules - Drag and Drop

If you need a reason. That's the most banal: The source of the ore has been depleted. You have already established a new source. And you don't want to waste time setting train schedule conditions. If you name all your iron mining stops the same name (say, "Iron mine"), then the trains wil...

The problem with all mods is that their developers are not working on translating them into other languages. Which the game supports by default.
Did you try talking to the dev and see if he/she would add translations for the language you prefer if you send them?

Can't that already be done? You can assign most actions to the keyboard or a mouse button. You can even do both, as each action has two shortcut options.

Re: A convenient turn

I don't think all mice have this feature, so it doesn't make sense to make it the default. But it's easy to remap the controls to use those two buttons. In the case of my Logitech MX Master 2S, it not only has those buttons, but also a thumb wheel that I can remap rotate and reverse-rotate to use. T...

I agree, it shouldn't be the default, because it's destructive. With keybinds one can make it the default. Not everybody will want that.

You might have a look here to see a list of official mods as well as unofficial-but-recommended ones: https://spaceexploration.miraheze.org/wiki/Recommended_Mods Some of them you may need to play around with to understand how they work. Auto Trash, for example, I find invaluable for switching logist...

I dunno, maybe people would be better at keeping it on topic and at talking to you about it if you weren't so rude about it?

Re: IP based forum lag

I had the same thing happen, so for those also affected, here's how to fix it (on a PC with Chrome and compatible browsers, at least): Go into Developer Tools on your browser. (F12 on Chrome.) Click the Network tab. Hit Control-R to refresh. A list of files ending in .js, .css, etc. will appear. Rig...

You'll just have to exhibit self-control, as there's a specific warranty disclaimer about this in the terms of service. :D https://www.factorio.com/terms-of-service Especially we are not responsible if you stay awake all night long playing Factorio and can't go to school / work in the morning :)

Re: [1.1.100] Updating will not work

Now mind you, I'm not saying it absolutely is your AV, but this certainly has the hall marks of it with your description of the zip file missing. There's nothing in Windows Defender to indicate that it's quarantined that file, nor do I see any clear indication of why that file would've been quarant...

Honestly, my first suspicion is that your AV is interfering in some way. You may want to check its quarantine and see if the missing zip is there.
I use only Windows Defender, the same as I've used for years, and I've never had this problem with Factorio until recently.

Re: [1.1.100] Updating will not work

Oddly, if I do a full install it works.

That is, if I install the full version of 1.1.104, and then update by downloading and installing the full version of 1.1.105, it works fine.

It's only the in-game update procedure the fails on this archive.zip business.

Re: [1.1.100] Updating will not work

On my system it's still broken. Today I uninstalled Factorio, then reinstalled the non-experimental version (1.1.104 build 62119), then tried to update to 105, and got the same archive.zip error again: Update failed: Checking update packages failed: Error opening update package: File C:/Program File...

Every week I'm reminded of how good a game can be when its developers play it and love it. :D

And I'm champing at the bit to play it with these changes.

Also i hate that underground belts build automaticle or the "smart" build mode.
There's an option called Smart belt dragging that enables that. So if you don't like it, you can uncheck that option to disable it.

Re: Expansion hype thread - Any updates on when/if there will be an expansion?

As a software developer myself, I've never seen software with a firm, no-compromise release date actually be good when it's released.

"It'll be ready when it's ready" simply produces better software...when it's ready.

It's also possible to remove tiles or items by right-clicking in the Components...but that only works if you want to remove all of them, or none.
