Doesnt matter how good of a cpu you have, after the savefile reaches 50-70mb you will get FPS lag. No other way around it.

No prob) Radars are really handy if you have a larger base, to track train movement and vehicle locations.

Any sort of map limitation essentially makes it just a custom version of starcraft with poor fighting mechanics, imho.

Imho, if playing against an AI, the AI should have predetermined spawn placing and predetrmined base size - some sort like Starcraft AI. It would fortify itself over a specific locations with very rich resourse fields, and send waves after the players. The longer you take not searching for these set...

Vehicles are onlz displayed in "observed" sectors - in the square around you, or in the squares of the locators.

You basically have the stack insertion bonus, reduce consumption by inserters, and also make the setup more compact than it could be if you place cables on belts.

Oh well, it depends really. I always build solid boxes and fortified stations. The idea of empty, spaced out defense line which is only working because of the limited AI of the attacker is uncomfortable for me.

I can also imagine that laser "projectiles" could miss fast targets - so at some point, massing laser is not efficient anymore, but a combo of laser + gun deals with all thinkable biter attack force composition - laser turrets for the long-ranged spitters and the bigger, slower biters, and...

I think that issue is as old as there are laser turrets existing.
