Re: Mouse wheel scroll not always detected

If it helps anything MS has a support article on scrolling problems with intellimouse hardware: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/303091 This part was interesting: Method 5: Determine whether it is application specific With newer “high-resolution” mouse devices, some applications may not correctly int...

Re: lay repeating underground pipes like power lines

Mods are now always packed as a .zip. Find the download link in the first post of the topic of the mod you want, and just place the .zip file in the mods folder of your factorio installation. You don't even need to extract it!

So to it will be like this: ...\Factorio\mods\mod.zip

Good luck :)

Re: Trains keep blovking each other

Get the signals out of the circle of the intersection. Trains 1 blocks 2, train 2 blocks 3, train 3 blocks 1, and you have a deadlock because none of them have a path to get out of the intersection. With a roundabout, you have to have only signals on the entrances and exits of your intersection for ...

I think being able to call in a missile with resources would be much cooler(and possibly faster) for an end-game far away logistics request.

Re: [MOD 0.10.x] Robocharge - Robot Charging Station

My guess is this is because of the change in 0.11: Changed the frame_width/frame_height properties of animation to width/height so it is the same as in sprite. The fix is in this post: https://forums.factorio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=6285&start=70#p50064 Braddock has been offline since ...

Re: System cannot find sound

Your folder structure indicates 0.9.8, in which .wav files were used. If I go to my 0.10.12 game folder, I find .ogg files. So my question is: have you updated to 0.10 yet? If so, something might've gone wrong and I suggest you do a clean install of the game. If not, I suggest you do a clean install...

Re: Mining and Resource-Harvesting Robots

You could let a mining bot take only a few ore at the same time? So you'd still need a massive amount of them to have any kind of significant output.

Re: Port Pre 0.10.x map to new 0.10.x features?

While to my knowledge the 0.10 series added no really new terrain features, the map generator will generate new chunks with the newer version. For example if you had a pre-oil game, the game would still generate oil in newly explored areas.

Re: Copy/paste cargo wagon filters

I increased the wagon capacity to 40 slots, which is a pain in the ass to make all filtered one by one, especially when I plan to have 20+ trains running. So having a way to set multiple slots to the same filter at once would be a very welcome addition. Either by copy-pasting, or being able to set m...

Though when people say Limitations from a game they wrote from the ground up I get confused. The only way around it would be to write it in assembly their telling us :P? Well, they still have an engine(Allegro) to work with, so not everything is built by them. And the way some things are built alre...

All of the comments seem to be positive too. There are 2 comments that criticize that they almost binned the demo when they had to mine manually, until they found out about the automation part, though.

The tanks in the "big" sketches all look like a flavor of early to middle WW2 tanks . Given the characters skill to build and research other weaponry, I think he has at least some idea about what a tank should look like. They look cool, while I like some more than others. We are fighting a...

Re: Friday Facts #41

I'm of the opinion IA-32 should have been completely phased out for x86-64 by the time of the release of Windows 8, but the Atom Z6xx series was released in 2010 and doesn't support 64-bit. AFAIK, Atom is not so much the literal definition of a "desktop" but definitely mainstream consumer ...
